Since the Flex and Rupes units pull a lot of amps that give them the torque and power they need in order not to bog down, it is highly recommended you use a 12-gauge extension cord, and no more than 50 feet long. After extended use with a 16-gauge cord, you run the risk of the switch or speed control not working over time.
